No. as you have the hood up and are looking at them, the one on the right, regardless of market, has the latching function built in... thus the reason you have lift hood a bit to release the strut latch. Why? ...While you are working on your engine, the right hand strut locks, so the hood doesn't fall on you when you have weak struts and only want to replace one.:mrgreen:

Somewhere along the line I ended up with 2 locking struts. Makes for an interesting game trying to close the bonnet since they never both seem to want to unlatch at the same time. :)
