Why would you not tell him to use 5W-30 like the factory specifies (At least it does for my 06 S/C) ?

As far as the level, have you checked the dipstick?

This is 2 quarts over the recommended 7, so immediately drain out the two quarts. Easy to do. By the way, the 5w-30 is fully synthetic, correct?

Maybe the mechanic put in 7 but charged him for 9? Checking the dipstick would be the smart thing to do.
I just did an oil change on mine and it took 9 quarts...and thats what my manual said on 07 S/C

The US-spec manual clearly states that to avoid voiding your warranty, you should stick to 5W-30. I would hate for something to go wrong (not necessarily because of the oil) and they use your non-factory spec oil as a defense to deny you warranty coverage...
I'm more worried about the 9 quarts. My manual says 7.7 litres.
Your are fine - MobilONE 0w40 should be fine, but you may want to try 0w30 on your next change. You are putting a better oil than the the Castrol Syntec in my opinion.

While under warranty I bought the oil and had the dealer put it in for me - no issues with warranty

Also 9 quarts should be ok Capacity is 8.5.

Fluid Capacities

Engine Oil

Engine oil and filter change 7.7 liters (8.1 quarts)
Fill from dry 8.0 liters (8.5 quarts)

Full synthetic? My dealer says 7500 miles between changes I hope so. Only down 1/2 qt after 6700 miles I'm pretty happy with that! My Jeep SRT8 went through a quart every 1,000 miles wtf.
