Will an Optima Yellow Top D31A fit into a 1999 p38 4.0 without any major modifications[mechanical or electrical]?

I'm considering the same Battery after my Autozone yellow top lost charge for the nth time even after an Alternator rebuild. That is the only battery Autozone and Oreily's have listed for our cars. If I get one today I'll let you know how it fit. Have you consider any other battery options?

if you are not running a winch. there is no point to using a Yellow Top. Get a red top for starting applications.

I have the Super Start battery from O'Reilly at $112 with 18 month warranty. It is a bargain compared to the Optima Yellow Top for $260.
It has more CCA at 950 than the Optima which has 900 CCA.

I can replace two batteries for the price of the Optima and have some changes left.
The Super Start battery at O'Reilly is made by East Penn Manufacturing.

Is the bracket shown in your photo the original bracket just bent to hold the battery down?
I will do the install this weekend and i want to be prepared as possible.
if I need to buy a bracket I want to get it ahead of time.
Thanks

Yep, that is the original bracket. and remember to smear some petroleum jelly/vaseline on to the post to prevent the white stuff building up.

Ended up getting an Autozone Platinum battery (AGM made by Optima) with the prorated warranty for my old battery at just over $100. Had to use a battery clamp under the OEM bracket to meet the height difference of about 3/4" too small. This wasn't a biggy as AZ gave a free clamp from the battery room. Did the swap at the car park and its a tight fit. Mine is a 99 Gems 4.0s and Autozone only list the Optima D31A battery for it. One of the managers gave me the 3rd degree stating that they won't warranty any other battery choices. I talked to another manager and explained the mid year switch between 99 4.0s and 98 4.0se; then we picked up this from the list for the 98 4.0SE and went from there.
