I have a chance to buy an ecu with Tornado chips installed and I would like to get some first hand advice.
I have been told that if I change ecu then I must get settings altered to get it accepted by the system. Correct?? I would prefer to just put the chips into my existing unit to make life easier.
Are the chips really as good as is claimed? I refer to power and economy. Has Mark altered them over the years or are they still as he first developed them? I just want to be sure about these things before I proceed further as I have read several conflicting posts here and need some peace of mind.

As a matter of interest I was visiting a local RR mechanic/wrecker/parts specialist and he had never heard of ´Tornado¨ and was very sceptical of rechipping - ¨ they run ok at the moment don´t they?¨ He seemed unaware of how the gems ecu was programmed by Rover - rich and lean, stupid timing (etc to meet pollution regs) - and so he wouldn´t play around with it. He also said that because I would be changing something in the engine I would have to get the system settings changed to suit - even though Mark states that his Tornado chip sets are undetectable. This mechanic uses Autologic.

Any comments or bubble bursting is welcome.

As long as the chips are for your engine no problems ...Just a straight swap...... methinks you can down load the procedure...Mine were for 4.0 4.6 and lpg THEY do what it says on the tin..I will have to dig my old gems chips out the instructions were with them....

Thanks for that. Mine is a completely standard ´95 4.6 just running on petrol. I have read the installation instructions and it does appear to be a very simple job - just be careful.
I am getting quite good mileage at present, if the trip computer is to be believed, but I would like better.

Cheers

This is a one-off item. Sorry.
