Hey I was going through my menu on the RRS SC and found the oil level info. But it said the it's not available, it shows the high and low oil display. Is this something only the dealer can access? Or can that mean that my oil level is too low that it doesn't register?

I will miss the dipstick in my 2006 when I upgrade to a 2010+, that's for sure... Have you followed the procedure in the Owner's Handbook (maintenance section / engine oil check)? It's fairly detailed - and probably doesn't work unless you follow it to the letter.

Checking the oil level
For an accurate oil level reading to be taken, the
following conditions must be met:
• The vehicle needs to be parked on level
ground.

• The oil level should be checked when the
engine is hot. It is therefore recommended
that a reading is taken after a journey.

• Let the vehicle stand for approximately 10
minutes after the engine is switched off, to
allow the oil to drain back into the sump.
Note: The system will not give a reading until
the oil level has stabilised.

The engine oil level is automatically monitored
and can be displayed in the message center.
Once the above conditions are met, check the
oil level as follows:
1. Press the STOP/START button - do not
start the engine.

2. Ensure the transmission is in Park (P).

3. To display the oil level, access the vehicle
information and settings menu.
See VEHICLE INFORMATION AND
SETTINGS MENU (page 36).
Select Service Menu and then select Oil
Level Display.

4. The oil level topping-up advice will be
shown in the message center. top-up as
instructed.
An indication of the oil level is displayed on the
gauge. Messages to the right of the gauge
advise you of any action you may need to take.
If the oil level is within the required operating
range, the message Level Ok will be displayed.

Do not add any additional oil to the engine.
If the oil level is below the required operating
range, a message advising you how much oil to
add will be displayed, e.g. Add 1.0 pint. Add
the recommended quantity of oil then recheck
the level.
If the message Overfilled is displayed, seek
qualified assistance immediately. Do not drive
the vehicle as this will cause serious damage to
the engine.

Reminds me of older Rolls products with the push button oil level check. I rebuilt two Wraiths thanks to failed electrics.

The Mercedes has had that for a while - seems to work fine. Tells you if you are low and how much to add if you ever run low.

Will it always tell you to add a certain amount? The display only says "Below Min Refer to Handbook"

No wonder when I stopped at the gas station one day, I said "let me check my oil level" I popped the hood and removed the engine cover and wasn't able to see any dip stick, well I wasn't wasting any time looking cause there is a good chance of getting Jacked for these trucks in NJ! So with out wasting too much time, I put the cover back, closed the hood and got my @ss back in the truck before my gas was finished pumping! lolol

Where in jersey did they let you out of the truck at a gas station? I thought it was state law to remain in vehicle?
