Firstly , Im not asking how to roll back the odometer  . Im looking at purchasing a 04 RR and ran a carfax. Here are the findings:

12-2004 Service Facility 9,6XX miles
03-2005 Service Facility 6,000 miles (3600 miles less)

Normal services etc. until.....

7-2007 Service Facility 20,600 miles Battery replaced and charging system checked

Vehicle then sold to second owner.

7-2007 Motor Vehicle department 17,893 miles (2707 miles less than before the sale)
11-2007 Motor Vehicle Dept 20,647 miles Title updated (as if DMV made mistake)

The optimist in me wants to believe clerical error as if you are going to roll back the Odometer why do it for a few thousand miles? Second thought is potential electrical glitch might have robbed some miles (7-2007 service). FYI these are dealer services as it was under warranty. Is it easy to roll back a digital OD?

Your opinions are needed
Thanks,
Christian

Typos are not uncommon in carfax reports. When I sold my 300 it has 3 erroneous listings. Since I had purchased the car new I knew that the mileage had never been tampered. Fortunately I had all the paperwork to show this. The folks at Carfax said they only report and were not responsible for any errors in their reports.
