New to me. 02 RR HSE

Good evening. I recently purchased an 02 RR with 80k, after scouring these forums and the site in general I decided to take the plunge. I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself. I purchased an extended warranty and plan to do most of the maintenance myself... So I'm sure you'll see me asking lots of questions. I will however use the SEARCH function first. Thanks.

You'll be just fine.

Now fix your picture before your accumulator goes bad.

I though bad picture links made the Book symbol illuminate on the HVAC display?

I must have a bunch of bad pics out there then...for about two years now.

So long as the A/C works down there, I wouldn't worry about it myself! :thumb:
I also just bought a '02 RR 4 days ago and am new here on this forum. Have used the website for years for parst as I used to own a '96 4.0 then tried a '04 discovery for the last 15 months but am thankfully back to a rover now.

I just never trusted the Discovery for bad weather as much as I do the rover for some reason. I once was driving north to Lancaster Pa. 2 or 3 springs ago when we had a snow storm of about 6-8" in march . Now that dosen't sound alot but the road crews couldn't keep up as it was coming down so quickly. The '96 rover had no trouble and I wasn't the least worried except for the others in light weight pickups that thought they could keep going and ended up off the road.

Some work I can do but I use a great place in Upperville Va. British and classic car doctors that have looked after me for some years now. This new rover needs new rotors I think so am going to change them and the pads. I was going to use the upgraded EBC performance kit from Atlantic british, any thoughts? I just don't like taking prisoners with the brakes and tire choices.

After looking around here yesterday I am also getting a newer Nav disc from ebay, can the actaul system be upgraded at all, didn't get that far in my research here?

Anyway any ideas on the above would be most welcomed and thank you for your time in advance. Will try and get a picture of my RR to go onto the side of my posts as soon as I work out how all this works.

Thanks for all the replies. I'm in Raleigh, NC.

I'll try to get that pic changed ASAP, when I'm not on my IPhone.

I plan on keeping mine as clean/stock looking as possible, while attempting to add some creature comforts. I've searched this before, so I'm not asking for advice.... Just thoughts on the process.

To do:
Clear Corner lights
Arnott Gen III
Rear DVD for my son (using prefab, with zip up covers to cover the screen when not in use. Leather and piping to be matched by my leather guy
Radio Upgrade for BT/IPod (nothing insane)
Sub 6" upgrade
Dash lights changed
Nav upgrade(here's where I plan to think outside the box... I'm thinking about pulling the original nav and replacing it with a 7" touchscreen Magellan with a custom bezel)

Keep us informed on the nav front.

When you get back to your computer you can either click the "upload attachment" tab below the box you type in, or host the picture on the web (flickr, photobucket etc) and use the image code that ends in jpeg.
Thanks for the advice on the pictures... I'll make sure I keep everyone up to date on what I try to accomplish.... here's for trying to get some pictures uploaded...

I did the arnott's on my old '96 RR, dead easy the first one took 15-20 minutes then the other three took about 5 minutes each once I knew what I was doing. The step by step process is here on the rangerovers.net in the common problem fixes area, just follow the guide and make sure you leave the tailgate (or a door) open while doing it to disable the system or it trys to level itself or something.
The other stuff not too sure about I am also looking into the Nav part also.

Mine isn't as clean due to the weather here in Va. Why are you doing the dash lights out of interest?

as far as the Nav goes... I had contemplated relocating the a/c control unit to make room for a double din dvd/nav system... then realized that that 1) would potentially look very cheesy and 2) place the Nav screen well away from the view of the road... thereby potentially very distracting and dangerous..

Personally, any Nav unit I've ever owned I've turned the voice directions off as I find it annoying and distracting and simply glance at the screen every few miles....

I plan on attempting to put this Magellan 1700NAV.jpg[/attachment:39jj7ghz]

here next to the clock. and place the BT mic under the clock.Roverdash.jpg[/attachment:39jj7ghz]

I'll be using this headunit.pioneer.jpg[/attachment:39jj7ghz]

and these rear DVD headrests, recovered hopefully to look stock.. dimensions are close to OEM.DVD.jpg[/attachment

and here's a few more photos of my new RR. interior shots as well.. it's pretty clean for 80k.

DOH! 5 image limit per post!

Dash Lights... I have read some interesting posts regarding removing the green condoms around the lighting, and possibly installing LED lighting for a more uniform/blueish look to the dash lighting. I've never been a fan of green lighting in vehicles.. Call me crazy, but I'm somewhat obsessive when it comes to hobbies... my wife is always wondering whats next...

I think the green came from the green/gold oval land rover logo. Not too sure how a red or blue would look but your truck gets top marks from me.
I've been on the board a short time, great resource. So welcome!

Nice looking truck - good choice!
Beautiful rig - love the blue carpets and piping on the cream interior. Looks great - although I've gotta respectfully disagree with the decision to swap out the factory navi, that wouldn't be for me (although the new one will sure be a hell of a lot more usable and technologically advanced).
Thanks! I love the blue carpeting and piping as well. Too bad they're covered now with sandstone colored floor mats. I'd LOVE to find mats that match the blue carpeting.

As far as Navi goes. I want to find something simple, touch screen and unobtrusive as possible. That's why I'm leaning towards mounting a 7" touchscreen nav unit where the OEM is now. I'm even contemplating sourcing am original radio.... Oh the options!

But seriously. If anyone knows where to find blue mats. Please tell me! And yes, I've searched....

That and an opinion on the British Atlantic rear sway bar set... Searched. No answers...
