bought new key for my 08 SC from dealer
took car in to have programed and after two hours was told key didn't fit in ignition

questions:

do the new keys not fit often
does it take 2 hours to figure out key not fit
how long does it take to program the key
what is normal charge for the procedure

thanks

second try today was successful in getting spare key for my rover.
Parts department reordered the key after first one ordered didn't fit
this time they took a photo of the key and faxed to key maker

took 1 hr for service to return the car to me with the new key working and charge was $85 for programming
key was $275

it took a total of about 4 weeks to get a completed working spare key.

mine is a flip key

also bought a solder in battery and new case for the original key and repaired it
