Hi, i wonder whether anyone could give a suggestion as to where the best place to get a new remote key fob for a 2001 P38A DHSE ?

I had the misfortune to have another car broken into and the key of my P38 was stolen in a brief case. I am left with only one working key fob and that one is a bit dodgy so I have been using a key to open the car doors.

Any advice on getting a new [or replacement] key fob would be most appreciated.

Alternatively, if you want a genuine key rather than a non-standard generic key, your local Land Rover main dealer. You will need to take your registration document to prove it is your car but keys for EU spec cars are still available, it is only keys for NAS cars that have run out.

Be aware that in mainland Uk a least only key number 1 (of 4 that were available) is now available. Try to order say key number 2 and the parts guy will announce that the parts ref defaults to number 1 key, but only a tad of a nuisance if you have memory seats that are set to adjust with different fobs. Cost is circa £148

I am glad my fob is dead, some whiz kids with a laptop, copied my fob signal as I was locking my other car at a restaurant, got in, took some valuables and were kind enough to lock it back again.
I only use the old fashioned “key in the door” on all my cars now .

Code snatching is not an issue for our rigs.
P-38s use a "Rolling Code" algorithm, so the whiz kids would be frustrated by an P-38 since the code it uses to lock will have been changed as soon as it was used. Your other car has a simpler system. Good luck in future with no fob.

Gent a fob rebuild kit.... new battery cover Oring, because after all our fobs are waterproof if in good shape which mean a new button cover. If your actual fob case is damaged, get a new one off eBay. carefully cut open your old remote with a Dremel using cutting a cutting disc. Separate front and half on a table or counter so as to loose the blade spring or security chip the transmitter board, being careful not bend or damage the battery contacts.

Hi, many, many thanks for all of the suggestions and information.

I did ask Brit-parts who in turn called Land Rover and confirmed that new key fobs are available.

What I didn't quite understand was something that he said about there only being one type of key fob for all UK vehicles, which I suspect is what Scimitargtc may be referring to.

If new key fobs are ordered do you get new flip out keys cut and fitted in the fob ?

No need. If you order a new key from Land Rover it is a complete key with fob and precut key blade ready fitted. From the VIN they can find the key lockset barcode which gives them the data for the code to be programmed into the fob as well as the key cutting info.

RRToadHall, I am here in Maple Valley, where can I get the Fob Rebuild kit for my 2007 RRS?

Hello everyone,

I just purchased a 2002 P38. It came with two keys, both regular keys, no FOB, no buttons, nada. Have to put them in the door to open the vehicle. Not a huge deal, but is there an option for US owners to get a new remote key fob?

Would anyone happen to know if fobs are still available for Australian delivered vehicles? I assume they would be close to UK. Vehicle is 2001 4 litre.

Should be as long as Australian ones use 433 MHz, it's only the 315 MHz ones used in the US and Japan that are no longer available.

Be aware that not all Australian P38s were converted to 433MHz. There is one sitting in my garage which is still 315Mhz.

Aftert buying a new key from LR. With a 5 week wait to get it, finding it didn’t work, taking it back, to have LR then tell me that they had no record of my car being upgraded etc. etc. Very frustrating.

Les in Wales is your best answer for a 315 key.

If your car has a 315 MHz fob then it is probably an import from Japan as, according to Wiki, Australia uses 433 MHz for RAKE LPDs. Les is Wales is your ONLY option for 315 MHz fobs.

. I have just joined the group, we are able to supply you with 100% compatible Key Fobs for your P38. There are various options available to you. 1) send us your Key & we will extract the code from your fob & manufacture a new Fob with blade cut to suit your car. 2) we can send you a capture device so that you can capture your key code for us. Send the device back to us along with a few good pictures of both sides of your key blade ( we can usually reproduce the blade using pictures, this is done on a state of the art CNC key cutting machine), but don't be concerned , we supply you with an extra blank blade in case we didn't get the cutting right from the photographs you can get the second blade cut by a local automotive locksmith).
We are able to supply both 433 Mhz & 315Mhz fobs.
If you need any more info feel free to message me.
