Hi, I am looking to get a spare remote key fob - I have the possibility of getting a brand new uncut and never programmed one - is it only the dealer who can programme it or can it be done on MSV or by an Indie on autologic, testbook etc?

Also does anyone know if it easy to get the blade cut?

Cheers

Hi

From what I have read over the years I believe the following sums it up:

The bem is programmed with the code from the fobs. Any other fob with a different code can not be used with your becm. If you know the code of the new fob it is possibe to reprogram the becm whitch is done when new locks all around are fitted. In the case this is done the old fobs won't work anymore. Your becm has to be unlocked to perform this operation.

Landrover might be able to code new fobs, but will probably only do so if you buy a brand new unit from them.

If you take appart the old and new fobs the cut blade can easily be exchanged.

Regards

Jos
