Just received my '06 RRS SC on Tuesday.., I'll post another thread on that later with pictures. Couldn't be more pleased.

I'm trying to figure out how to put a ski rack without having the roof rails. In my old Cayenne TT, I purchased a Thule rack that attached to the track where the roof rails go. In the RRS, there is a plastic piece that runs from the front of the car to the rear. I noticed a small circular tab that could be pulled out but before doing that wanted to know if the following is possible. Can I install the rack like I did on the cayenne, by attaching it to the track? Is there a track??

Serb, unfortunately it is not an answer you want to hear. Do a search of this site as this topic has been covered pretty well, but bottom line you need to buy the LR roof rails OR be handy with the drill --I think it was bop08? drill in hand, who did a terrific install of the Thule with pics.

I did a search, but the search function here is a bit strange with how it compiles the results. I'm used to another forums search function, so it is taking me a bit of time to search through the results. But from my initial search it came up empty regarding my exact question. I'll take a look at what you mentioned though.. that is helpful. Thank you. From what you mention, the rails might be the simpler/cleaner option.. I don't want to drill.

One point of clarification--LR stock rails mount to the roof holes that are covered up by the rubber strip. At the time of that post neither Thule or Yakima made a foot that connects to that LR rail. Therefore you have to buy the LR rails and LR crossbars and then you can use Thule mounts that work with the LR crossrails. Unless either company has recently come out with a new foot, you cannot mount either the Yak or Thule aero crossbars, square load bars (Thule) or the round load bars (Yakima) to the factory rails.

Gooseyloosey, anyone ever tell you that your pretty helpful Thanks for the posts, your right on all you said. I just called my shop, and they are telling me that an attachment kit is available for our configuration without the rails. I need to call again tomorrow when the shop manager is in.. but supposedly it will work with my Inno rack I have off my Cayenne.. just need to confirm on the possible attachments. That would be sweet though.. cause the ski rack is less than $200, great solution to those who don't have the rails.

I thought rails came stock on the RRS SC? Oh well.. I'll update tomorrow, fingers crossed.

Well... I just called Inno and they do have a kit available for my ski/snowboard rack.

My rack is the Inno TX706.., and you would need to also purchase the mounting hardware #TR125. With those two items, you can attach the rack to the sport without the need of rails. Hope this helps out some of you guys! The rack is great, its my 2nd Inno rack and I highly recommend it. Plus it looks great too.

What exactly does the rack attach to on the roof?

Too lazy to go in my garage. But there is a plastic strip that goes front to back on the RRS. I saw that there also is a circular plastic clip nestled in the strip itself. I assume that once removing that clip, the assembly will bolt into the stock hole underneath and allow me to connect the rack. Again.., thats my guess. I'm ordering the bolting kit and will post a pic for you rover heads out there.
