Hi

Bit off topic but I'm wondering how your getting on with the Nano. I've just ordered a Nanacom Evolution II. Seems to offer everything we could need to keep the rangey on the road (or off!)

Right, there you are!

It's a long story ..........

Anyway, I bought two licences at a good discount, and use Nano regularly, but can't claim to know it as well as I'd like.

I didn't know about the Nano EVII ...... typical story!

So, how to answer your question?

Nano:

Compact unit
Complicated connection to PC, too many cables, usb to serial conversion. Bluetooth just doesn't work properly, although it could be my laptop.
Software very comprehensive.

What does Nano do that Evo can't?

Me first:

Can Evo syncronise the BECM with engine ECU?

I've only had a limited play with it but I can't see any settings that would let you sync the BECM with the ECU. My unit won't communicate with the HEVAC ecu (for error codes etc) but everything else seems OK. On several occasions the unit has locked up needing a restart but this seems happen more when I'm inpatient and pressing the buttons really quick so maybe this is a user issue. I'm going to slow down the input speed and see if this sorts that out.

Have a search around on youtube - in one of the demo videos the guy shows how to navigate to the correct menu to resynch BECM and ECU. I'll have a quick look myself for the video, if I find it I'll link here.

EDIT, found it, go to 1.30 mark on the video and you'll see which menu option, from "Utilities" : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpWbt6WU7EI&feature=channel

Mine is excellent.
No problem comunicating with HEVAC in fact just fixed my long time book symbol ,changed the heater core temp sensor and fault cleared. Have you updated to the latest software 1.06 ?
Oh man... I can't wait to get this! My occasional book symbol has been haunting me for a year!

Anyone with one prepared to do a report / demo / Youtube etc ???

m- In fact folks on here are actually just referring to the 'Nanocom Evolution'

ie. There is no 'Nano EVII' as such..... not yet, anyway !!

There was an earlier 'Nanocom One', and I suspect the confusion arose from the 'Nanocom Two' later becoming the 'Nanocom Evolution' [??]:-

It probably does hot help either that BBS used the title 'Nanocom Evolution II' for their own youtube promos. at the end of last year.....

If i may be allowed to Clarify things a little.

The origional Nanocom, now referred to as the Nanocom one was a small and quite crude painted steel box with a simple 2 line by 16 wide display and four buttons.

It was replaced by the Nanocom Evolution, which was a larger plastic box with a 4 inch full color touch screen screen on it, but was still quite crude.

After being discontinued at the end of January 2011, Under BBS ownership, This was replaced with a very much facelifted version in a quite desirable slim black Ally extrusion that many refer to as the Nanocom Evolution II or EVII as you prefer and is what you see on the link.

As the face lifed version of the Nanocom Evolution is electronically and functionally identical to it's predecessor, and we did not change the pricing for it over the cost of it's predecessor, we do not make note of the fact that the unit we actually supply after mid 2011 it is a revised / updated version, hence in the BBS web shop The Nanocom Evolution 2 or EVII is still referred to simply as the Nanocom Evolution.

In short, the crude stuff is long gone :)
