Re: 3G-4G AT&T Connectivity

based on your observation in the other thread, you probably don't have all the updates it takes to get that enabled.

Could be - hard to tell as no one has had the major update not yet released and I don’t know exactly what the 3 hour update entails as they would not give me any id for it. I’ll of course be able to tell once I get it done.

dropped off for an update today. something I noticed on the way to the dealer. I had a 3g connection driving on the highway. I tried the satellite map view and the map would never finish loading - even if I change the zoom. I then hit some traffic, down to a crawl, then the map loads. Once I reached 70-75, no more picture - doesn't refresh. Maybe its a new way to keep people from speeding:wink:. Anyway, mentioned it to the tech and they said they'd check it out bc I also mentioned no 4G connection. Could be a day or days as he said sometimes when updating the infotainment the back seats climate controls wig out and then they have to link up with England for them to fix over the network......

UPDATE....

So got the call to pick it up. They did LTB01108NAS3, Part no. LT091126. This is what I can confirm re: this car only I guess---

There is no 4G connection available according to the Master Tech at the dealer, unless you ask my service writer who says there is along with the IT Specialist at the Dealer where I got the car. Called LRNA on the way home and they say not available for 2018. But, as we know some have it. So I guess it depends on location - who knows??? Still did not get satellite view on the highway and now it seems like the driver condition monitor reminder goes off every 50-55 miles to remind you to take a break as mine went off on the way home. Also, Master Tech said he turned on my 3G as he said it, along with my rear seat ac/heated seats were not working/activated. I guess you can disregard the picture above I took on the way to the dealer - it shows 3G on - maybe it really wasn't or maybe it deactivated when they drove it into the shop. Confusing at best.....

Sorry.....

According to ATT Connected car, the agreement between LR and ATT only allows for 3G connection for the car data speed. The rep. then told me if one has a device connected to the car's hot spot, even though the car will only get 3G, the device may get 4G, LTE, etc..... At this point, don't know who's right - I give up.

I am still on the trial in the car I picked up on 3/2 I believe & it's still the AT&T SIM card in it. I get 4G, just like most everyone else on this forum driving '18 cars.

Yes, depends on location, but it looks like some of the people you are talking to need to do a little reading.
From the online manual:
The Wi-Fi Hotspot feature provides in-vehicle access to 4G internet, enabling up to eight wireless devices to be used simultaneously in the vehicle.
Depending on the network connectivity, some features and services, including Wi-Fi, may not operate as expected, or at all. A strong 3G or 4G connection is required.

It’s hard to believe something seemingly so simple is so complicated. As mentioned, I get a different answer from different people. Yet there clearly people with 4G connectivity. Here’s the latest from the Encore IT rep. at the selling dealer - I think encore is the name they use.... He’s been nice enough to try and help. This is from a couple of days ago and I edited it to remove some names. Interesting......

My 2018 RR and my 2018 F-Pace both switched to 4G, and the F-Pace only has a single screen.
So, all you do is go to connectivity and enable mobile data, right? Just want to make sure I’m not missing something here. I don’t use hot spot or WiFi.

So the dealership has to tell AT&T to register your Vin and set it for 4G. I'm asking because I'm only getting 3G. I already called AT&T, Land Rover Corporate and my dealer and got nothing but the run-around. I have a MY18 RRS that was built in late June, just 4 months ago. The free trial is up in 4 days. Or will it automatically go to 4G with a paid subscription? TIA
