Hi Guys,

My lease for my 2016 Range Rover is coming due in August and I would like to get a 2020 Range Rover but according to my dealer they have not opened up to place orders as of yet. Does anyone have any insight on the 2020 specification updates? Also according to my dealer there was a Landrover meeting yesterday and they are laying off 5,500 workers in the UK, decreasing the output of Range Rovers, limit the amount of PHEV's production and they are refunding everyone's deposit for the Range Rover Coupe.

What is everyone's thoughts on this?

Land Rover has had some major financial issues lately. The lay-off could be due to Discovery production moving to another country.

I did notice that the PHEV no longer shows up on the LR USA website.

I am/was in the same place. My lease is up in Sept on a 2016 RR LWB. My son is a Freshman in college in San Diego so I have been making some trips every few weeks. 90 miles one way and the RR is a great ride down to pick him up. The new RR with the Executive seats really would be great for my 81 year old mom to come with me, but I wanted to wait to order the 2020 as well. However, due to the upcoming Brexit, LR financial issues, I decided I couldn't wait until the end of the year. So, I asked my dealer in December and he said the earliest he could get one for me was in June or July for special order. That is not what he had told me in November. He had said 3 months order time. So from Nov to Dec the order time jumped from 3 months to 6 months. I went to a dealer in San Diego and they said 4-6 months too. Since I know the general manager, he did some stuff behind the scenes and my RR should be here 1st week of April. I have noticed that they recently unloaded a bunch of RR here in So Cal. However, my dealer has 0 Discovery on the lot. Newport Beach + 4 of their stores only have 16 Discovery shared among all 4-5 stores. In April, LR is shutting down their plant for an extra week due to Brexit. So, I am assuming the RR inventory may get thinner going into June/July and that is when I hope to unload my current 2016 RR for hopefully a higher value.

Come August/Sept, I will wish I had order a 2020, but I decided that life is too short right now so I went ahead and ordered it now. If you can wait, I am sure they will have something new on the SUV.

Sounds like you bought your Range Rover during the same time I got mine in 2016. You may have seen during that time all Range Rovers were marked up by $5K to $10K above sticker because of supply and demand. So it sounds like we may be seeing that this year again. I guess a lot more people are starting to feel the pain regarding trying to get a 2020 model. I really hope that quality is not going to be an issue with the upcoming models. When you place your order and put your deposit down do you know what the lease payment is going to be on the vehicle prior to it arriving?

I feel as if every month they have a new product that they put all their efforts into then they realize its not going to work or they have a change of heart (ex. PHEV, Range Rover Coupe, Defender, Range Rover Sentinel, etc.).

I actually don't know what my lease payment would be. I did lease a Panamera e Hybrid last year with an MSRP of 135K and the lease payment is 1900 ish. I know my ATB is coming in at 158K. So, I am hoping with a better residual on the RR that the payments will be less than $2,400 a month and then I will put more money down to get the payments to where I would like it.

I too guess a lot more people are starting to feel the pain regarding trying to get a 2020 model. I really hope that quality is not going to be an issue with the upcoming models.

Have you guys considered 2019's? Is there a huge chasm in features between 19 & 20? It's really strange with thousands of 19's available across the country, and everyone is commenting on the 20 MY?

It sounds like there's going to be a huge shortage of 2020's. plus the economy is slowing down and a lot of people freak out over US presidential elections and don't make major purchases until the spring after the new president comes in.
