Ive been slowly doing away with as many electrics on my 92 RRC as possible! Ive now come to the electric windows. Im hoping to replace the electric regulators with the more reliable wind up regulators! Has any ofb yo done this? Is it just a case of swapping them over or is there fiddly and complicated mods involved? Any advice appreciated!

Why not just take the window out altogether...
You could then get some plexiglass
And make a permanent replacement...
Then you wouldn’t have to fiddle with
A window...

Is your intention to make it more reliable? The wiring for the windows isn't very complicated, and if they aren't working now, a bit of sleuthing and tinkering can solve that, and then they'll work for another 30 years. If they are currently working, I cannot fathom any reason why you'd want to replace functioning electric windows with hand crank ones, but to each his own. Perhaps if you found the door panels from an earlier classic with roll-up windows and swapped them that may work, but it's possible that the interior sheet metal structure of the door is entirely different. Since hand crank was never an option past the late 80's, there may not be a way to swap.
