MKIII/L322 Interior Leather Question

Have a question regarding the front seat base leather. I have a 06 L322, which I have just spent a bit of $ on to replace the transmission. Note - if you have a fault regarding gearbox take it in ASAP. Could be something simple like a flush and new pan or a full replacement of the transmission... (That was the case with mine) So much for the public service announcement.

My question is, the seat base HCA000321VAE runs about $450 each and I have found the HCA000320VAE (for the 02 MKIII) runs $100. Does anyone know if the HCA000320VAE will fit a 06 L322 (in the UK my 06 is classified as both an MKIII and L322) and possibly be an economic alternative?

I did a little searching, but couldn't find much of anything as to your specific question. My guess is that they aren't the same, but I don't know. Who knows, maybe the seats are different, but the fittings for securing them are the same, so they could work. Hard to tell, though, of course.

One thing I did find, though, is on car-part.com (I just recently found the site, myself - it looks to be pretty dang useful!) and it looks like there are quite a few somewhat less expensive possibilities there they you may be able to work with.
The seats are basically the same through (including) MY2006.

The quality of the plastic side trims gets slightly better through MY2006.

From MY2007 the seat mounts/tracks/rails are spread more widely and so these seats are not directly interchangeable.

Certain parts from MY2007 can be used (some connectors) and some motors from the base can be repurposed, along with much of the seat back.

If you're looking for a used item, a seat cushion and cover* from a MY2006 or earlier front PASSENGER side seat is a better investment as the driver's side usually wears on the outer side more than the passenger side, given that there's always meant to be at least a driver in the car.

If you have heated seats, the heat pad is part of the cover for that range. You should be able to swap the cover over.

The cushions are interchangeable side to side, as are the covers.

FTR, L322 seats share very little in common with L320 (Sport) seats. Don't make the mistake of purchasing any L320 hardware parts thinking it'll fit.

Rob

* subject to the cover being the same trim level/color as the original.

If you have VOGUE this item is not you are looking for. This Item is for trims like SE or HSE and it is not Oxford Leather used on VOGUE. Different grain/surface. Look for HCA500500VAE.
