Hey Guys,

The message centre in my 1996 Rangie is giving the following. Please what does it mean.If it is a problem any idea on how to fix it.One that will not make an extra hole in my pocket.

Select Neutral when the car is on an my Gear selector is on Parked

Select neutral message >earth problem or message from the gearbox feedback switch is wrong (faulty feedback switch)

what happens when you go from hi range to low range? does it switch over ok?

@Keithdixon, No it does not switch over ok.

Do you think that is why it cant climb some minor slopes.cos even after flooring the accelerator it will still not climb till the gear is put on reverse allowed to move backward a bit and then back to drive before it can climb.

A bud of mine had a similar problem with his Jeep the car would go into Drive but when you put your foot down nothing happened, turned out it was the electric solenoid pack into the auto transmission box that went not sure is the rover has the same thing but it might be worth while looking into
