synthetic oil isnt the end all be all solution even though its great... it still accumulates grit, metal shavings, and moisture. also like previously mentioned different weights will keep the vehicle prime in diff temps. i run different weights in the winter vs summer. i am convinced the schedule they provide is great for breaking a vehicle down just in time to buy another one before you actually need it. i dont care how sexy the oil is, im not waiting 15k miles to change it on a 100k+ vehicle , especially if you own..... id rather spend a few bucks up front and keep the car fresh than try to stretch it and pay for it later when the car is worth less. just my opinion =) i am on my 2nd oil change at 16k miles and i even had a hard time waiting that long
