I have a horrible feeling that my maf is dead. Tried cleaning but still not right. Runs but coughs and splutters, limited rpm. Stop it and unplug the mag she runs fine on her base settings, no symptoms at all. Now I will run a check tomorrow, but can't remember if I'm OK to run without it connected for a couple of days? Call it old age but I can't remember, think I'm OK though... Lol

Should be fine - it will just run in open loop mode as far as I know. Might log a code or 2 in the engine ECU - but shouldn't give any real running issues.

The Bosch MAF's do seem to go just like that - and they don't seem to respond to cleaning, unlike the GEMS version.

Make sure you get a genuine Bosch one as a replacement - they're more expensive than aftermarket, but they never run properly with aftermarket units - I tried a Bearmach or Allmakes one (not the cheapest aftermarket - more mid-range) and it always read high, which messed the fuel trims up and over time it got worse again.

Put a new Bosch one in (when the funds allowed!) and it ran properly again :)
