hi all. i have owned my p38 for about 5 years now. the car runs very smooth on lpg but recently i have
had 2 backfires which of course blow the air box apart. the car dosnt get used a lot at the moment
about 100 miles or so a month. the only other time it has backfired is when im blasting along the
motorway and the gas runs out which im fine with. could the recent backfires (when driving around town)
be down to the cold weather or someting wearing out on the ignition ?.
it has single point lpg ingection and i tend to start it up and switch straight over to gas.
as i said earlier it purrs when running on lpg & is a little lumpy when on petrol. so i would think
the ingnition system must be working fine. any help would be appreciated.

The backfire could be down to a number of things including switching over to gas too soon. The vaporiser needs heat to properly vaporise the lpg. About 40 C is the norm. This can usually be set in the lpg ECU.
The reason for lumpy petrol, but good running on lpg could again be a number of things depending on whether you are running open or close loop on the lpg.
