So I have a 2006 range rover, i've had it for about 6 months, anyways the coolant light came on about a month ago and the check engine light also came on but it goes on and off when it feels like it. My bmw mechanic added more coolant and tested the codes but he said their all just freak errors probably with when I ran the battery down. Anyways now the coolant error is coming on again. I am still under warranty but the local dealership is 100 miles away, anything possibly wrong, I can just add more coolant but I hate to have to do this every month or two.

Leaking coolant reservoir is my guess, it's a known fault and my 06 had it replaced under warranty. It's the plastic jug, look for orange crusting around the cap area which is dried coolant. At least that's what mine looked like. As for the check engine light, let me just say after 5 years with my 06, I've learned to ignore the check engine light because it comes on intermittently and it never amounts to anything. Put some electrical tape over the light, you'll feel better.

Good news is by 2010 they appear to have fixed the problem because I've got 3000 miles on mine with no check engine light
