1998 p38 4.6. Was replacing spark plug wires and ran across this loose tube (vacuum line?) not sure where it should be connected if at all? I’ve got it clipped to firewall. Anyone know what it is or where it connects? It’s the one that looks like a J

Leave them alone they're breather tubes from autobox ok so nothing to worry about mate 😎

As said, a breather tube, there's another by the charcoal canister, couple on each side of the radiator and various others scattered around. They are there so axles, gearboxes, transfer cases, etc can be sealed so don't fill up with water when wading but don't blow seals due to pressure from getting hot.

You had me confused - there is no distributor on a P38A.

Me too, I was all ready to move the thread to the Classic forum until I saw the pictures of the coil packs.

Actually he partly right as coilpacks act like distributor ---- now think about it 👍
