Afraid I'm still a newbie. Car is 21 years old but I've only owned it for coming up to 9 years. Only two previous owners though, Greater Manchester Police for the first 8 years of it's life, then a guy that used it as a builders van and neglected everything before I bought it and got it back up and running properly with everything working as it should.
We bought a 1996 4.0se back in 2001 with 63,xxx miles on it and just sold it a few months ago with 232,000 miles on it, have a 2000 4.6hse we bought in 2008 and a 2008 4.4hse we bought about 9 months ago
on the 1996 4.0 we owned it for 18 1/2 years now to move the 2000 as its sat for last year now with over heating issues.
Proud owner of 2000 4.6. Original owner.. still going strong with 245k miles. This baby has been thru a lot but still keeps rolling. What can I say.. it's a love hate relationship when it comes to repairs.
I'm now facing the dreaded heater o rings repairs along with possible front diffs.
Took delivery of my 4.6 HSE on 31st July 1997, so have owned it 21 years. 139,000 km. Always garaged - original unmarked condition. The usual problems: fuse-box replacement, heater matrix o-rings, one new blend motor, new suspension bags and overhauled compressor & valve block. Remade sump gasket to deal with standard oil leaks. Now about to replace front steering ball joints. Thankfully Rangerovers.net makes D.I.Y possible, without it these vehicles would be beyond affordable!
I am the original owner of a 1996 4.0 collected from the dealer in March '97. This dashboard beeping wonder has about 146,000 miles on it. Just yesterday, I swear, I installed my umpteenth rebuilt compressor to renew my commitment to the EAS forever!
