Weird one on my 4.2 - i know one of the big signs of bad valve seats is long cranking hard starts when cold... don't get this... ever!

However i do occasionally (once a month maybe less) get it doing this when warm as in we drove fifteen miles stopped for 30 minutes and then it cranks about 3x as long as normal before starting.

anyone else get this and any ideas? should i worry or is this just a feature of the ff

Interesting! I have the opposite problem. 5.0 SC sometimes stumbles upon cold start (around freezing or below) in the low RPM range (~500 RPM) until it “gets its footing” in 2-3 seconds and begins running at high idle typical of a cold start.

Never any CEL. No pinging, just like it takes a few seconds to “wake up” once it catches. Any ideas?

I am approaching the 150,000 mile interval where plugs and wires are to be changed. I will revisit once this is done.

Also had my #2 injector replaced, maybe others are a little fouled up, too.
