I have a 2002 l322 4.4 v8 - its been idle for a while -when i tried to start it the other day (battery was fully charged) she turned over but would not fire
so far have checked fuses, checked Relay, open and shut the car with keys(making sure immobilizer was off) - but still no joy
THEN i took the engine cover off and released the pressure in the fuel pipe - it started !!!, have done this a few times and its the only way i can get it to fire
once running it runs fine ????? - where do i look next

Sounds like a dying fuel pump to me. Had to replace mine this week.

Use a pressure tester to see the fuel line pressure when key is turned to position 2, and at idle. After turning the vehicle off wait maybe 5 minutes and test the pressure again. It should be very close as to what it was at position 2.

Went through this last week with a Discovery 2, hard starting but no other difference. Turned out the pump was losing pressure very quickly from an internal pump leak. New pump solved the issue.
