L322 2005 V8 Vogue Power Steering Intermitent Fault and Central Locking

Hi I've looked through similar threads and can't find anything that quite fits my problem.
From either hot or cold start the power steering can feel very heavy, after a few re starts the light steering from start up will return and once its working it continues working fine until switched off.
I've changed the valve on the rack and the bottle to replace the filter. I've used D3 cold climate fluid. I don't think its the pump as the fault is so prescribed, working or not working. It makes me think its electrcial, where will I find the ECU or similar for the power steering? Any one any other ideas?

I doubt its related to the first fault, but these are technical beasts and I'm out of ideas, I have a recurring central locking fault. The drivers door works fine on one click, two clicks and the passenger door opens, all the doors and petrol flap should open on that 2nd click, but they don't.

You need to start the engine, turn it off, lock the doors, repeat the process a couple of times and then all the locks will open. The interior switches, don't seem to assist, they either work in the same way as with the key or not. I don't think it can be a door lock as it never fails on just one door. When the fault started, it didn't creap in, it just started happening as I've described.

The added problem is that I'm a wheelchair user, I have one leg, so this whole process is quite annoying...and I look a bit of a prat, climing in and out of the car a couple of times before I can put my chair in the boot.

I've been to a local specialist and the codes are reset, but he's run out of ideas...Does anyone have a suggestion on this? Could the two problems be related?

Best wishes,

Pete

Re: L322 2005 V8 Vogue Power Steering Intermitent Fault and Central Locking

hi and welcome to the site. i can only note that you mentioned that the fuel flap does not open. ours does not either because there is no mechanism to open it. however when everything is shut off the flap opens with a push-unlike our p38 which pops open when you hit the release. our main door does not activate the lock when we lock the vehicle but the rest of it does lock and unlock as normal. hopefully someone here will be able to advise or perhaps consider the kit from RSW solutions which covers a lot of issues and resets on our model years. We have almost had ours for a year but no major issues but i also need to get that kit. i assume you are in england as the kit is available from the USA
