This is a technology problem with keyless entry, not a Land Rover issue. There's no "beefing up" security, it's just how it works - you need to secure your own property as an owner. If that fails, well, that is what insurance is for.

Couple of other cars with the same problem:

Agreed, not a Land Rover issue. Remember, even Chevy has this system.

I work in Chicago and looked into disabling the door lock system.

Came across that, it worked on my L405, haven't tried my L494 but considering that the video is for a 494 I'd assume so.

Kryptonite is the answer. Encase the fobs as well as the entire beast in kryptonite and you should be ok.

This article shows you how hackers can still your Range Rover Sport in under a minute. I am wondering if I should put my key fob in a metal can when I am home. I had no idea it can be so easy. I hope Land Rover beefs up their security. Here is the article: https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-6652383/Keyless-car-thieves-steal-Range-Rover-Sport-worth-60-000-Harborne-Birmingham.html
No need to buy gadgets to do this, just wrap your key fobs(spare one also) in aluminium foil and there is no way the signal gets through. Try it with your mobile/cell and you'll see.

The method deactivating keyless entry posted by Keralis does work though, don't know if on every model, but a shame to lose the feature..

These posts on here is why I always wrap my fob in aluminum foil whenever it is parked outside, such as when visiting family.

And I'm the guy that had to spend a few hundred bucks because my only key fob was in my briefcase, which I placed in my trunk, and my RR couldn't sense it was inside - I shut the tailgate and was locked out... #notsmarterthanthethieves

as long as you have a 17 or newer, your phone can help in such case (not by calling someone but by using the app)
