Just installed RR 19"wheels and im getting a violent shake

I just installed Range Rover Sport 19" wheels and im getting violent shake past 55 mph. I did everything proper, I got the 06+Range Rover lug nuts and the hub centric rings and the shake is real bad. I also feel like im all over the road with them and ive also noticed that when it upshifts into 4th around 40mph, car will shake a bit, this is all ever since I just installed the new wheels. The tires have about 50% thread on them and two of them have very little uneven threadwear but still, not of my symptoms would be that extreme. Any thoughts. The stock wheels were 16" SE wheels.

Hey Martin it looks like your front passanger fender hold down screw is coming loose on that JEEP

Scotty
Are there any screws left in it?
Those fenders have lived a hard life mate....I think fiberglass is in my near future!

Just got back from the tire shop. Seems that the tires itself are bad. 3/32nd thread left and all are cupped and chopped with uneven thread wear. Balancing was not an issue since they were balanced from the beginning: so here are my questions:

1. Even with chopped and cupped tires and low thread, would i still get a VIOLENT DEATH WOBBLE like feelng pass 55mph where the car shakes?
2. Yes, with my 16" wheels, I has NO issues at all, but the shake on these 19" wheels feels like the wheels is going to come off, should It be that extreme?
3. I took some pics of the drivers side knuckle suspenion and to me it looks like something is missing, while the pass. side doesnt have the missing link, am i missing something?

It's missing the steering link!!! OMG YOU"RE GOING TO DIE!!!!!!

Just kidding. It's just the spot that the steering linkage would connect if it were Left Hand Drive.

Now go put your 16's back on, or buy some new tires.
Re: Just installed RR 19"wheels and im getting a violent shake

im going to pick up some tires today, michellin synchromes but the size is 255/55/19 vs the 255/50/19, which would help since they will be less low profile and more tire. I would just hate to buy tires and found out I still have the issues. Would the front/car shake that much above 55mpf if the tires were bad? I never had issues like that with bad tires, usually I would get a steering wheel shimmey and steering wheel shake, but this feels like his:

When you post stuff, do you think about it first?

Did you happen to read the headline on that youtube clip you posted?

I'm going to quote it, but you have to promise to actually read it this time, as it might clear up your problems for the 8th time.

My 2005 Jeep Wrangler shakes violently and Chrysler will not acknowledge the issue!

It tured out to be the tires. We went from good year to michelin and have been driving with michelin for over a year now and it has not happened since.
The local dealership finally believed me after watching the video and convinced chrysler to give me new tires.
-- If you have good year wrangler tires, this may be the problem. Good Year will not acknowledge a problem. Be persistant with your dealership.

Re: Just installed RR 19"wheels and im getting a violent shake

GOOD NEWS: Just bought Michellin synchromes 255/55/19 and my shake went away  , drives much much better and no more death wobble, i get like a slight hint of a small shake still but very small between 55-57 mph but then goes away as soon as I get to 60mph plus but overall very happy with the outcome, thanks
Re: Just installed RR 19"wheels and im getting a violent shake

I had the same wobble and I got most of it to go when I upped the rear tire pressure from 34psi to 38psi. I'm going to put a new drag link and a steering damper to get rid of the rest of the wobbling.
Like you, I'm running 19" wheels and I don't have the originals to compare.

Wow, you mean it was the tires?
That is simply amazing.......Wonder why I never thought of that
Re: Just installed RR 19"wheels and im getting a violent shake

hi i fitted the same wheels to my 4.6 autobiography had a slight wobble so fitted spigot rings -vast improvement
only thing is the r/r is a bit twitchy on the road ,wants to follow the contours, so fitted koni shockers ,bilstein steering damper
polybushed radius and panard rods, and tweeked steering box. ican only guess changing from 16" high profile wheels and tyres to 19" low profile 255/45/19 there isnt much give in the tyre walls so any free play on suspension etc would become more apparent , i did also have them re balenced , after all this shes alot better but stil sometimes a bit twitchy
