So i just bought a 2010 range rover supercharged with about 80,000 miles. I am based in Los Angeles

1 thing i realized is that the bluetooth only works with phone calls and not streaming music and solutions to this?

another thing is i am thinking of getting a warranty do you guys have any recommendations?
I know the timing belt is the big thing. if that breaks how much does it cost to repair?

Another thing i wanted to do is add the deployable side steps. Do you guys recommend a place I can have this done? What does it usually cost with installation?

Also wanted to add roof rails, and cross bars that work for surf boards. Do you recommend a good brand for this?

I wanted to also add Mud Flaps do the OEM ones and the aftermarket ones look the same? Any recs on these?

If y'all recommend a good mechanic in the los angeles area that would be great too.

Timing chain can run $7000. I'm having awful problems with the 2012 RR SC I just bought. Not sure if u can get a warranty for a truck with 80k miles but if u can, yes buy a warranty! I didn't have one and my tranny went. $5000 right off the bat.

I will not touch a 2010-2012 because of that timing chain issue. Sorry state of affairs when you actually have to plan that into the purchase price. That should have been a recall situation.

Rack, I used the Yakima set up. There are 3 mounting positions on either side of the roof. I use the middle and rear. You'll need Landing pad # 11 4 of them. Then the crossbars and the piece that connects the bars to the pads (4). https://www.eriksbikeshop.com/Yakima-Landing-Pads/PA2128/Product

Yes, the timing issue exists; however, I have 130k on mine (non supercharged), it's never been done and I have no issues in that category.
A qualified mechanic in my area can do it if I choose for 4000-4500.

Plus 1 on the Bovee 1000 Bluetooth solution - I have my old iPod permanently plugged into this and it works flawlessly.

Atlantic British have the OEM Roof Rack (CAB000040PMAG) for $800.00. There are cheap knockoffs of this on Amazon - probably made in China.

Non-OEM style roof racks are in short supply and generally only include direct mounting cross bars - Rhinorack makes a few options for the direct mount bars.

His wifes failed catastrophically to the point a new engine was required. If I bought one, it'd always be on my mind to the point I'd just get the service done preemptively... But it's a time consuming and expensive repair. Figured it made more sense to replace mine with a new gen rover when the time comes. 07-09 are byfar the most reliable, that's what I have. Nothing major has ever gone wrong with it in 150k

haha that is true!

If the timing chain fails while the engine is running there is a good chance it'll cannibalize itself and yes, you're out an engine basically. The chain drives and keeps the timing of the top end of the motor, without that chain timed appropriately to the lower end of the engine internal components will just smash into one another destroying the engine. Before it fails it should sound pretty horrific for a duration, clanking and metallic grinding. If I found a 2010-2012 by chance I was absolutely in love with, I'd probably buy it and immediately get the chains done... tho as time passes at that price I"m almost into a 2013... I've been stalled out just driving my current rover which apparently can't be killed. The reliability of the 07-09 is outrageous.

yeh just add 7k to the asking price of a 2010 to 2012 and start from there. if you take one from 80k miles to 200k miles the extra 7k is well worth the money. all my friends with the newer rovers have had terrible experiences so im keeping my 07 HSE and my 2011 SC forever.
