Hi,

I've been having a few intermittant sticky valve issues of late, could the Penrite HPR 30, 20W-60 oil be too thick and be causing the sticking valves?

Maybe I should try a 15W-40? Im down here in New Zealand, temp most days is 20 degrees celcius.

Cheers.

HPR 30 can be a little thick when cold. I tend to get a little tappet noise on first start up if I use it, but it will disappear in a minute or two. I use HPR15 which is 15w/60. So you still retain the same hot protection as HPR30 but it is a little better when it is cold. I do not get any tappet noise with HPR15 when the engine is cold. I would not go for a 15w/40 when you can have a 15w/60.
