im tired of grabbing my ipod on the dash to change songs, what can i do to integrate this so that i can change songs/playlists by using the steering wheel controls, how much does this cost? what is the cheapest method.

I dont know what is available for your model year, however, I would go to Nav Tv corp.'s website and enter your vehicle info. They sell high end vehicle ipod integration kits and seem to know Land Rovers well. If anybody has what you are looking for, they should.

The best method is an Intravee II with an Alpine KCA-420i: the Intravee to connect to the OEM nav-radio unit and the 420i to connect the iPod to the Intravee. Unfortunately both units seem to be discontinued/unavailable so ebay/used would be the only source.

The next best option is a Dice (or a similar unit). Considerably less expensive but, since these units emulate a cd changer, you navigate the playlists as cd1-6. Soundwise, no difference AFAIK.
