Installing aftermarket gauge, help with dash light

Hi All

I am about to wire in aftermarket water temperature and oil pressure gauges. I've been trying to find a walk-through or an article showing where to splice for the instrument lights. Is it as simple as a splice from the output lead at the dimmer switch?

Any better way to do it?

in the past while in a similar quest, I have taken light signal from the radio harness.
