i want to reset the altitude so it doesn't read 30M at sea level, and get it to read 1M intervals instead of 10M intervals.
can anyone tell me how to this?

Have you tried adjusting the reference pressure in the Kollsman window of your altimeter?

dsc, the gps works based on a different MSL, so you might sometimes find discrepancies.

I do not think you can change the intervals.

thanks Sport 2010 but my satnav doesn't have a kollsman window? not that i know of anyway.

thanks flydrive i knew there would be be some descepency due to pressure but i didn't think it could be so much?

you would think if the satnav knew it was at sea level due to mapping knowledge, it could self calibrate when it came to such known levels.
perhaps that may yet be beyond them??
