Horrible Bluetooth Telephone Connections?

5096 Views 14 Replies 13 Participants Last post by  djsaad1
It seems that everyone that I try and speak with on the phone complains about the audio quality. Has anyone had this same issue? Is there any solution? I do not see any settings that address this. Some times they state that I sound like Darth Vader and other times they say that it is is impossible to understand what is being said, this is with an iPhoneX on the latest software.

My connection continues to drop on iPhone X. I
have tried 2 iPhone Xs..
People can hear me clearly but I can't hear anyone out of the truck's speaker. I also have an iPhone X same thing with S8+

Both on newest firmware

this should be automatic, but when you are bluetoothed to the car, on your phone, swipe up and double check that the speaker setting/sound is checked for the car. for iPhone.
No problems with my Android...sound is perfect..
No problems with my iPhone X
Had it happen a couple of times. Not sure what caused it. Also I've noticed when proximity sensors are beeping while on a call, the call's volume is turned down to almost mute which makes sense from a safety perspective but still very annoying.

I should have clarified better, the sound coming out of the truck is extremely gargled and not understandable.. ended up shutting it off at frustration. Maybe I have a software update for the truck? I’ll have to ask..

or the phone?
My 2015 RRS was pretty mediocre in Bluetooth connection speed when getting into car and the audio quality was the same.

My now 2017 RR with same Samsung S8 is notably better in both areas and I am very satisfied. Connects to car when I get in within 15 seconds and audio quality is great.
same problem here with rr my18 (1 week old) and discovery sport my17. called my dealer via car ... to explain the problem... now he believes me..
As much as I hate to admit it (being an Apple finatic), but I believe it’s an issue with the iPhone iOS... using my iPhone X albeit on my 2017 RRS, I’ve had people say everything from the call was simply garbled and crackling to my sounding like an 80 year old woman who’s smoked 3 packs a day for life!

However, ever since updating the software on the phone to the latest beta (11.4), the complaints have stopped and whatever was wrong has gone. There haven’t been any changes to the vehicle (service, etc.) recently, so I have to believe it’s simply Apple’s implementation of Bluetooth.
I have the same issue and also use an iPhone X? Sound in the car is clear and impeccable, but the other party hears a cracked, rusty metallic sound (darth vader). Anyone with a solution? Can it be a fault in the RRS's microphone? Has anyone tried with another phone than an iphone X. I also use the iPhone X over bluetooth in an Audi and no issue there. Best, Eric
No problems to report with Bluetooth sound, either music or phone, 2018 RR + Android Samsung S9+
S8+ here and for phone calls, this is the best anyone has heard me in any car I have owned. I am a soft speaker and usually have issues with car bluetooth systems, but the microphones here might be in the perfect place for me. I also turned the mic volume all the way up in the settings.
