I would appreciate any input on the hood latch mechanism as one stuck open on the hwy. today and my wife noticed the hood fluttering on her side. Lots of anti-seize in the hole but I am thinking the release cable is keeping the spring loaded clip from returning to its proper extended position. Has anyone overhauled this area and knows the issue. It seems like the latching component is a bit on the light side.

Which latch is it? Make a huge difference. Release cable goes from handle to left latch with a secondary cable to the right latch. Have you verified the latch actually works by disconnecting the release cables? Have your verified proper cable adjustments?

Thanks for the heads up. It is the passenger side latch. I managed to pry it toward the centre of the hole, the hood latched and I got off the highway. Cable is likely seizing.

The cables will stretch, fray and/or snap. If in doubt replace.

You can start by pulling up RAVE and going through all of the cables and join points - spraying as needed.
