Hey guys, new owner here.

Just wanted to drop a line and say that this forum has been very helpful.

Coming from a 2006 Lexus GS300 to an 06 RRS HSE.

Great car, kinda small but that's okay. I kinda wanted a smaller truck that looks cooler the dirtier it gets! So far have no issues *crosses fingers*. Then again the only thing I am really expecting from this truck is the ability to throw mud all over the place.

Pretty familiar with how forums work etc, so hopefully my search faculties don't fail me. But if I DO happen to ask a dumb question, I expect all the good natured ribbing to ensue. Coming from 14 years of Audi ownership, I can say that there is no such thing as a trouble free car and my expectations are based on that. However, my last car was a Lexus, so there will be an adjustment period.

Thanks for listening and I hope to be a contributor some day.

Got it from LR Southwest in Houston.

Dave

Oh and yeah, just a pic.

Welcome - great introduction.

And you shall get your chance very shortly, the annual LR Houston Dealer event is upcoming on March 21st.

If you join the HLRC (Houston Land Rover Club), you'll be able to participate on the weekends earlier for the trail cleanup, run the course several times and then help host the event. Would be great to have you join.

Nice model/nice color!!

Paul
Welcome Dave...I also came from a 06 Lexus GS300 to a RRS 2006 (Chawton White).

Things I miss are the back-up camera, mirrors that fold in automatically, more leg room....and the ease of ipod/iphone integration...

either than that, i love my RRS!

Oh no! I'll be just returning from Washington DC that day. I'm afraid I won't be able to make it! Any other events coming up on the horizon?

Awesome, glad I'm not the only one. I loved that car, but it was impossibly boring. The thing that bums me out is the ipod integration but I can deal with that. The back up camera doesn't bother me much cause the RRS has such great blindsight visibility.

If you're in town on March 7th, a large number of club members will be preparing the course for the event on March 21st. If you're interested in coming along, feel free to do so. Since there are a limited # of us out there, we drive the course several times after doing the pruning, trail maintenance etc. At this point, we have at least 3 other RRS's joining for March 7th.

If you hit up the website for the club (google Houston Land Rover Club), you'll see the upcoming events scheduled. We'll have quite a few offroad events in April including SCARR, Overland Expo, a possible wine tasting in May, and then we usually do several beach runs plus other impromptu trips during the year.

Cheers.
Welcome another Houston Roverian!

Thanks Paul. I just joined the HLRC! I want to join on the weekends in March, but it is an extremely busy month for me. Hopefully I can hook up with you guys at the next event. I am looking forward to it.

Fantastic...glad to have you on board.

Also, every first Wednesday at Jax Grill on Shepherd the club meets for our monthly get together, so drop by anytime.

Cheers,
Paul
