Well,

I have a somewhat urgent issue as I cannot get the key out of the ignition. It won't turn to the last position that allows it to be removed. Note that this first occured after a slight roughness when placing the car into park yesterday. If I jiggle the shifter just right, I can get it to release but as of this morning, nothing at all.

I'm fairly confident is has something to do with the shiftlock, but wanted to get an idea on the best approach to repair from you guys!! My search of the forum came up empty handed!

As for the urgency, I do business in the ghettos of Philadelphia, so I can't really leave the truck anywhere!!

Thanks in advance for your help!

Regards,
Doug

OK, I found that the small park switch in the console is not being fully depressed. I found the attached part broken off sitting in the console. Any idea what it is called or does someone have a clean photo of the parking switch mechanism so that I might be able to repair?

Thanks Again!!

I took a part a shifter and this is what I saw. the motor is the lock out motor and the then you have the plastic lock out structure and spring. This is from a pre 2000 car. When it gets light out side I will take a 2000 shifter a part and see if it's different in side.
sorry for the bad pic..
