Help - first time to use OBDII...causes electronics to fail / alarm to go off!

Newbie here...I have an ELM OBDII reader which I plugged into our 2004 Range Rover Vogue. That immediately set off a high-pitched alarm sound. I unplugged it but it continued for about 10 minutes. Now various error messages appear such as 'air suspension inactive'. The A/C doesn't work anymore, nor door locking with the remote and a whole bunch of other things. I tried taking disconnecting the battery but that didn't change anything...

I probably did something very stupid...I would be *VERY* grateful for any help you can offer.

Has anyone had this happen before?
Does anyone know what I could do before taking it to the garage?
