Hi there, tried to start my car earlier today and nothing

Since buying the car the central locking has never worked so I can only get in the car from the drivers side and pull up the locks for the other doors. So when I go to start my car I have to put the key in the ignition then press the key fob first button before turning the key anymore, the indicators flash and usually I turn the key to position 2 then the engine check light comes on which allows me to fire up the car but today no light come on, the indicators still flash as usual but no engine check light.

I've tried my emergency key code but still nothing
I've tried resyncing my key fob by pushing lock button holding and turning the key into lock position and back to normal position again taking key out and the letting go of fob button.

I'm yet to try disconnecting the battery with key in the position 2 then reconnecting

So at the moment I'm stumped, I've noticedmy car alarm goes off in the night and randomly during the day and I'm getting the ALARM FAULT message on the dash now and then, also keep getting different window not set messages. A few months ago I was having power blackouts due to the r7 relay overheating, which I read up on and they think it's to do with blocked pollen filters, they believe the relay caused internal damage on the fusebox causing a whole heep of electrical faults, so I brought new filters and a 2nd hand fusebox to fit.
When I was about to get round to fitting those bits the faults went away that was when I started getting the alarm fault and the window not set messages.
I'm going to ha've a go at fitting the fusebox tomorrow and filters and see if that does anything
Then I've also heard a people talking about a becm?? But then also people talking of the fusebox fault making them think theres a problem with becm

Any help much appreciated
Alex

the becm is the main computer that sits under the right hand seat
random alarm faults alarm going off, dose this only happen when you parked in one place?
the fault you have at the moment sound like engine and BECM have gone out of sink will need to hook up to testbook or equivalent unless some one close by has a sinkmate and will call by and reset

do you have a land rover club close by they may be able to help
have you tried the remote close to the rear right window that is where the receiver is it may have been disconnected. if all the doors don't unlock with the drivers door check the drivers door lock

I need to look into local land rover clubs as im not sure, I'll phone the garage in the morning to c wether they have the right kit, what am I looking out for when I check the drivers lock?? As the doors have never works since buying the car, I've always had to unlock with key and unlock other doors from the inside its never been a problem, I wouldn't mind sorting it in the future but it's not vital at present. Are there any online free services for obtaining the emergency entry code??

Every one I've been asking on the phone seems puzzled! The fact that even though the central locking not working didn't affect it between buying the car and Saturday. Seems like no-one wants to get involved. That says it all, any local mechanics or auto electricians on here that may be able to help?? At wits end with the car now. Justwant it sorted! Not wanting to spend alot, I dont want central locking fixed just want to start it again

Alex the fact that you have had to re sink the key every time you went to start it point to the alarm being out of sink even with out using the remote you should not have to re sink the key on start up.
is it petrol or diesel? how long have you had it and what year is it how many keys came with it?

It's a 1995 SE 4,0l auto, petrol n lpg came with 2 keys which I have had no problems with. I brought the car August 2012. Central locking has never worked, every time I want to use the car I unlock the drivers side door which only unlocks the drivers side then open all other doors I need from the inside. Then I put key in ingnition then press key fob, turn ignition on then I'll get the engine check light come on then I'll start it up, but no engine check light so can't start. Engine disabled press remote is what comes up.
The alarm recently kept going off randomly at night so that was my warning I think. Also for the last couple of weeks I've been having alarm fault message come on and certain window not set messages. But it's been still working fine up until Saturday, now it seems the immobilizer wont turn off to allow me to try and start it

You can't have the car working [via immobiliser] and not be fussed whether or not the central locking works, as pointed out already they are one and the same [ultimately]. So to many reading your plight it will not be puzzling at all, just an inevitability.

You need to find out what is going on with your latches and what the 2 keys you've got are doing (read: Invest time to learn the system).

Are you sure your entering the EKA correctly? does your 'Park' light in the instrument cluster flash on each key turn (of the EKA process) or your indicators also? Do you have the latest RF receiver? (this probably needs to be addressed, not what your neighbours have been doing as this is actually irrelevant). You just have to hope the BeCM hasn't gone into lockdown, after which no amount of successful EKA entering will help.

The car hasn't asked me for the eka but I've entered it in the hope it would help, I've entered the eka correctly. Haven't noticed the park light instrument light come on whilst entering the eka, the indicators I'll check later, car is down the garage I managed to get a tow, I've just taken it to my local garage in the hope they can sort it, all other places want me to wait a week some even longer, but being self employed I can't afford to not work for a week or two. I'll c what they have to say about it they may have some contacts if they can't. Were can I research the system as the manual doesn't give away much

Just a thought at what point would the car ask for the eka as if I can make it ask me then surely entering it at the right point would sort it?? Take batteries out of fob the put back in??
