I have become the babysitter of a RR Classic, a 95 LSE no less. Ex-chauffeur car which I look after for a good friend of mine who lives abroad. I use it for trips to the country and my kids squeal whenever I say 'Let's fire up the Range!'.

So by default (and by no fault of my own) I'm stuck with it. But that's no bad thing.

We have developed a few technical issues which make it a little difficult to live with, so I'm here for a bit of advice as my local specialists just don't want to know:

1. Electric driver's seat:

I'm about 6' 2" and the seat is stuck in a forward and elevated position which is making things a touch tricky, and uncomfortable. I've looked on some forums and it sounds like the ECU's can deteriorate and that the memory battery can leak onto the PCB. These seem like common problems. But in this case I can hear the relay/switch clicking when I operate the seat controls, so it's as if everything is working OK, the seat motors just aren't getting any power.

2. Rear window catch:

Stopped working, I'm sure it's something simple, but before i start taking it apart, I wondered if there were any common ailments here.

Looking forward to some pointers!:)

Welcome aboard! Regarding the seats, unless you know the seat ECU battery has been replaced recently, you can assume the PCB needs inspection and most likely a new battery and some maintenance/cleaning/repair. This rig is 20+ years old, don't assume you can avoid at least inspecting the PCB. Check with your friend on the history. If he doesn't know, assume that it needs maintenance.

If you want to adjust the seats without repairing the ECU, you can unplug the power cable and use a small battery to power the pins to move the seats. Search the forum, there's a thread with the pin mapping.
