Hi all

RRC uses about 1/2 pint of coolant every 1000 miles, more than happy with that, However it occasionally drips coolant onto the front passenger side (UK) carpet, also occasional wafts of coolant smell in the cabin. Looking up into the heater area I can see the hose as attached image, the coating must surely be a workaround by a previous owner?

Coolant smell appears to coincide with changing the temperature setting, I've had similar with another car where the seal on the control shaft for the heater control valve had hardened with age, does the RRC have a valve to divert coolant to control temperature as opposed to flaps to control air flow through the heater matrix?
