Per my previous thread about the cracked flap distribution lever, I must venture forth and replace the heater box. There is limited info online about this procedure, but what I’ve found seems rather straight forward. Since I was going about changing the blend motors and dash, much of it is already apart.

Anyone with experience pulling the heater box who can share some pointers? Can the AC evaporator stay in place?

Here you go. Note the part about not needing to remove the rear section with the aircon evaporator. This can be left in the car with the system still sealed

Excellent thread. Big bonus if the evap can stay attached, although at this age it may be wise to replace it anyhow. I really wish there were a way to replace the distribution lever without having to replace the entire heater box.
