I dont think the upgrade/update is going to be that spectacular.
You were certainly not wrong chap, and even if you wanted it, you apparently need to buy additional cables too.
Interesting, Im assuming you updated the unit you have...

Have a big problem with your supplier here, for your product his prices are crazy.
It would pay for me to fly to the UK, have a liitle holiday, buy proberly your product and fly back to SA

and still have cash left over......Im in disbelief

Nah Viperover, after seeing what the bits i was going to have to buy, just to connect it up to a PC and comparing new against old coverage lists taken from the OEM website, which allow me to figure out what was added. I really lost interest very quickly.

It really does seem like upgrading was something that was either not considered right from the outset, or perhaps intended all along, by virtue of the fact that the upgrade is free, just as long as you buy more previously un mentioned expensive hardware. Which is doubly annoying that it was not mentioned before as that will now cost even more shipping. Intended or not, It just seems so much like another echo of Gunemalis initial experience, of hidden additional costs and a dissapointing lack of expected capabilities, after which i very much doubt he would be interested either.
Sorry to do comparison but it has to be said, even with our low cost EAS Kicker and Faultmate FCR, we have always included an PC connectivity for any future upgrade lead free of charge, even if customers have never needed to use it.

It also seemed like another yet another one of those annoyingly frustrating cases where for some mysterious reason, the prices for the additional leads and power supply seemed like some big OEM secret, and of course there was no mention about how to get the upgrade, and nothing as obvious and simple as a "Click here to download the update" link.

Anyway, sorry to hear about your local problem, I have heard such comments before, but sadly it is an aspect beyond my control. However as i specifically provide no exclusivity arrangement to anyone, and Thankfully at least WE adopt an open policy of openly publishing RRP prices on our web site, so you can easily see when and where there is a problem.
You can also vote with your feet and buy from us direct if you so desire. And if you are an established member of a board we support, I will also give you a 10% discount to boot.

Hiya there Colin

I still have bits and pieces left over from when I used to distribute your Rovacom lite in Australia - I have a box of leads including LD01, I have a server #5460 and I have a HW02. Do I have enough hardware to make a system work? I currently own a 2005 td6 L322 as well as a 1999 Disco2 td5 as well as a 1994 RR classic with EAS. What do I do to diagnose these vehicles? Of most interest is the L322 EAS functions and the D2 ABS/ETC/HD functions although it'd be good to get the 1994 EAS codes cleared as well.

regards, Daniel

Hello Daniel
Long time no speak, must nave been 2 or 3 years now, if not more.
I hope you are well?

It sure sounds like you have the rqd hardware.
You just need a server, Null modem lead to connect that to a PC, a VCI 1 and an OBDII lead.
After that you only need the software licences for the vehicle systems you wish to access. If you don't have them, they can be purchased from our web shop.

If you ain't sure, drop an email to [email protected] and someone will help you out.

Warmest Regards

Colin

As many who have read this entire thread will know, i did offer Gunemalli the unique opportunity to exchange his Hawkeye for a fautmate system here. An offer which he quite understandably and readily accepted and to my knowledge and understanding he is now a very happy bunny indeed, and so he should be.

However despite my making it quite clear that this was an offer made to him alone, and him detailing the Hawkeyes short fallings for all to read, i have since received quite a number of PM's and E-mails from other seemingly desopndant Hawkeye owners requesting and begging the same.

I would therefore like to re iterate that this offer is not, and was never intended to be open to anyone or everyone. It was a one off deal for him alone.

I have no desire or need to collect an entire cupboard full of Hawkeyes.

Many thanks for your appreciation

Warmest Regards

Colin

I wonder if the offer wasnt from sneaky Omnitec who make the Hawkeye trying to dump their rubbish onto you and then sell yours on with their strickers

Carl, (RRtoadhall) of course there are many occasions where PM is better, but then if I always did that then no one would know what a really nice chap can be in the right circumstances.

Ally, you really should see my cupboard full of such traded in hardware !!!

You would not believe how far past diagnostic work my mind has gone,if I had a cupboard full of Hawkeyes I would probably just forget them, unless I wanted the space for something interesting or useful. When the post 2005 vehicles become dominant in the home fiddler world, the situation will only worsen.LR have only dropped quality, increased complication and raised parts prices. Its a rubbish trade, fuelled by greed. If it were not for a fantastic set of regular customers,(Who are rapidly becoming disillusioned with their recent LR's) I would happily say no to any newer vehicles.I just cant be bothered by the whole dog eat dog or get rich any which way attitude. There is still a decent living to be had by working for people who want things done properly and have no interest in the latest gizmo.

They all seem the same now Rich, think its time I moved on and did something new, really enjoying my trials lately but I dont want to spoil it by making it my living.Maybe something to do with classic bikes,or even back to the timber trade where my family roots are.....

It has been well documented here, but I found out too late. I purchased the Hawkeye from british atlantic as it sounded like a silver bullet for my P38. It of course is not, hopefully they will work something out with me....

Really really sorry to hear your after the fact woes Harley
We try to save as many as we can, but it is quite hard to reach everyone in time.

See what you can do, as you do have the benefit of having gone through a third party and so you stand a very good chance of getting something sorted out.
I heard there was some improvement in the latest, but patently no where near enough.

But if all else fails, gimme a shout.

I cant promise anything, but then I ain't exactly unknown for my knack of turning tears to smiles either `)

Warmest Regards

I know this is a topic well discussed, but, I really refuse to put in the trash my Hawkeye diagnostic tool.
Been trying madly to obtain extra unlocking code for it with no result at all.
Does anyone know a way to make this tool work again with unlocking codes or master unlock code? Any hack in the market in this regards?
