Ah so a 2 X LR owner, thats says a lot Paul
I have a 2003 L322 thats covered less than a quarter of that distance and that has needed near everything, radiator, AC condensor, fuel pump, instrument pack, multi function display, headlamp level ecu, usual prop / diff problem, air compressor, door panels, sunroof motor, and hosts more stuff and lots of niggley problems. Its been off the road 3 months now waiting for some front EAS airbags that cost a bomb cus they only come complete with the shocks, Great design idea that one guys .

P38's do seem to be one thing or the other.

Bit worried about your key programming comment though, the key is not learned or programmed in on the P38, it's vehicle specific already.
Is it an original key that has stopped working, new key you ordered by VIN, or other ?
Have you tried syncing it and does the light on the fob come on when you press a button ?

The vantage sounds nice, how old is that baby.

Oh and Errm sorry, I really don't need a microwave.

Hey Rick, Gunemalli tells me that this thing is apparently not supplied with a lead to connect it to the PC to download any upgrade, From what he tells me, that's apparently an extra that normally has to be retro purchased.

That's interesting.

By not supplying the update lead in the initial purchase tell's me that there will be no updates forthcoming.

So they advertise the hawkeye, sell every lead seperately to get top buck, then promise free updates eh!

I'd like to know how many people they have misled & how many are happy with their purchase.

Hi Rick Colin

Looks like I failed with the microwave!
The Vantage is a 2000 V12. Not getting much use at the moment due to the weather, but still looks great in the garage.
Colin I did not mention because it has not been used for some years but I also have a classic LSE, was a good car until the paint started pealing off, so it was replaced with the disco. There's a thought maybe I should revive the old girl.
I digress the key is an original that was working! The light still come one on the fob. I don't know how to sync the key!
I have a new problem with the Disco may be some one can shed some light on.
As I said earlier the car has just had a crankshaft sensor at the main stealer.
But now I cannot select gears 3,2 or 1 Drive is ok but the gear lever wont go into 3.
Does anyone know if this could be associated to the ecu or would it just be a physical problem with the selector or cable.

Kind Regards

Paul

Nice Aston, worth keeping and looking after. Is that the engine on the Avatar pic ?
I forget the exact sync sequence, it's covered in the owners handbook though and goes something like, unlock with the key and then press the lock Button a few times within a few seconds. I could have lock / unlock swapped though
I typically just turn the key one way return it to centre and press buttons repeatedly like a loony, watching to see if the sill button starts responding, if it does not then i try the other way. One way or another it starts responding and hey presto.

Regards the Disco shifter problem, i can't help much as i am not up on the mechanicals, i know it uses a similar ecu to the later petrol rangie though and there are inputs to tell the ECU what position the shift is in.

Rick,
I dunno chap, it's hard to fathom, once i actually have the unit, i can try to figure out more and will keep you posted :thumb:

Hi Colin

Yes that's the engine and I intend to hang on to it as long as possible.
Thanks for the info, I have been printing off from the forum. Looks like others have already been here.
Are you going to reveal any new kit soon?
Because I really do need a Christmas present!
So I will have to place an order next week.

How's that Santa outfit looking?

Kind Regards

Paul

Hi Everyone,

Well, here's an update on my situation. Sent the HE to Colin, & got the MSV2-Extreme today. got the chance to work with for about an hour. But only was able to do the s/w installation and the initial setup. Will be posting a review later tonight. It looks solid & feels solid.

Waiting for the licensing info from BBS.

Anyways first impression is really great. More detail to follow.

(Heck i should stop all my other stuff and become a critique/reviewer ;) )

Well he ain't gonna get much sleep now, unless its in his P38 methinks
you review and criticise away chap, already i know you fancy having a go at writing a getting started guide from a customers perspective.

And to be fair although everyone is typically impressed with the MSV-2, at least Gayan has the benefit of being able to offer direct comparison info.

Scotty,
Errrm thinking thinking thinking

Hi all,

Sorry for the delay in writing back. Been busy with several things. One being using the new MSV2.

I'm quite impressed with it's performance and it's capabilities. Quite a monster i must say. And the colors you've put on is a real treat for us meat heads. ;)

Well i was able to read and clear some faults which our beloved stealership forgot to clear. There were a lot of faults recorded in the BeCM as my car was taken apart for painting and the HEVAC ECU too had some faults b'cos of me fiddling with it's systems ;) Cleared all of em and no new faults was logged.

The EDC EMS had logged a new fault with glow plugs being faulty. And my father predicted this even before the MSV arrived ;)

Anyways i'll be writing a detailed review and will post it sometime this week. Still have to start writing it. And i assure you it will be something really interesting to read.

He must be a little confused.

The becm don't log any faults. Bless him.
Hi guys. Thanks for your interest here. Well these faults were read under BeCM->Outstation memory. So that's why i told like that.

I had like 8/10 faults logged like can't comm. With seat memory, outstation memory etc.

Don't worry buddy, You'll get use to it. The options seem never ending.

It'll be like that for months. Each time you use the extreme you'll find other options that you didn't see before.

Wait until you use the air suspension, you can get the live data on the single valve movements. If there's a sticking valve it'll tell you what one it is. Go out in the dark & select the light sequence. You'll think your range range has been possessed.

Strictly speaking, the Out Station Test and the RF receiver tests are not really Fault code functions in the normal sense, In fact they are both similar to the ABS's inverse usage of a code in the fault code memory that indicates correct presence of rotation on all four wheels and the code for that is normally always there until erased, whereupon it should re appear on first drive if everything is ok

In the RF and out station presence tests, Detection of the items present is also shown as a list, and this requires to be cleared with everything re appearing on the list only if everything is OK.
If for example an out station is not communicating, it will not appear on the list, signifying a fault with it.

So it is a list of detected codes, but presence of a code here does not mean a fault, but the inverse, as in everything is OK.
It is a different way to use a fault code list, but it does produce the same result, and it just goes to show how many varied ideologies and techniques we had to learn, and encompass in the development and design of our equipment and it's software.

So i do apologize for any confusion this may have caused you Gayan, but as usual, it is all explained in great detail in the help, the importance of reading which, i have already stressed.

EG
Although this function is entitled clear fault codes, it actually gives you four choices for special functions of the BECM. These functions allow clearing the outstation memory and RF memory.
Takes me back a bit actually because I wrote those functions personally over 10 years ago, but as Rick notes, nowadays the system has so much, it's almost endless what you can discover.

But it sounds like you are having a bit more fun now

Hi All
Especially Gayan.

Gayan you will recieve your FREE UPGRADE at the end of January as promised. This applies to anyone who has previously purchased a Hawkeye unit. Also there is planned a further upgrade in March which again will be free.
The new application list will be available to view on line in the new year prior to the availability of the upgrades.
There is an approximate 50% increase in application across all vehicle type coverage.

As for the comments in regard to the HVAC and other points raised. We are more than HAPPY TO RECIEVE ANY CRITIQUE. This allows us to continually improve this and other products. So please keep them coming.

I would recommend that anyone contemplating the purchase of Hawkeye to view the current application list before purchase. As for Gayan having to pay a high duty,if you had informed our sales dept prior to making your payment we may have been able to have changed the discription of goods. Please remember that an offer has been made to you in compensation.

Kind regards and please keep up the comments. It is the only way we can move forward with this product.

Hi Clive,

Come on in & take a seat. We love diagnostics here. We're not sure of your position within the company that produces this hawkeye tool, so i take it you will be kind enough to enlighten us.

I must chirp in here regarding the HawkEye.

I was offered one as Demo test run so connected it to my P38, function were limited and near on of no use.
It doesnt do any of the following
SRS in any form
Engine reset adaptive values.
No sensor readings to see whats what like Maf flow
No eas
No
No
No
No

shall I carry on, then to top it all I now read there's going to be a 50% increase on applications, well if that was what a demo unit was like I dont think the upgrade/update is going to be that spectacular.

Im kinda dancing between Black box or Super scan II, time will tell but pricing is mindblowing, I'll make more money building houses with my cousin than owning a scan tool of sorts for the layout, nah, its not the same...bricks are bricks, pistons are life...no no, Rangies are life....Im going to bed...
