Got my car sorted yesterday all was running 110% then driving home this evening I got a Fuse 17 Failed and ABS fault messages pulled the fuse it was blown and replaced it all now going ok, Im wondering if its my brake switch?
I replaced the fuse since and has not popped Im not sure that my brake switch has ever been changed so as a precaution it might be a good idea to change it, my ABS pump also did something funny and decided only to start running about 2 min into my drive my heart almost stopped as I thought it had burnt out again
I would be changing that ABS pump relay, not worth the hassles of another ABS pump failing
I now have 9 useless ABS pumps in my collection, its now time to start investigating the fessabilty of overhauling them top to bottom.....just waiting for final word on ABS pump pressure switch supply
Just recieved my shipment from the Uk have replaced the ABS relay and also tried to change the brake switch however I noticed it is longer than the one already in there and also has a different part number the new one is XKB100170 I cant remember the old one number must you adjust the switch length before installation?
The new type of brake switch requires a small wire harness to connect up in the older cars. I had two of this new type of switches failing on me within couple of months after fitting. The first one was replaced under warranty by LR dealer, when it failed again, my mechanic (independent) changed it for a used unit that is still going strong at the moment. I ordered a new replacement of the old type on line from ebay uk.
Fitting the new type of switch was straight forward without any adjustments to be done. Just pop it in place of the old unit.
