Fuel Tank Guard Production - Who is interested ?

6566 Views 18 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  996TURBO
Hi,

I'm planning a fuel tank guard production.

Design will be similar to Southdown but not exactly the same since i don't have a pattern.

If you have any interest or any requirements, i'd love to hear them.

Price will be around 350 euros.

Material will be steel either galvanized or epoxy painted.

If i'm the only one that wants to protect his P38, i'd like to hear it too.

Cheers

Flo

PS : because i heard it several times, i know that q-rover is already interested even if he is on vacation

Flo,
you know I would be interested. I was only thwarted on getting a steering guard/axle guard from you because my RR is a RHD one...unless of course you have overcome that problem :D

Gavin,

No problem, we only need a 2nd RHD owner to start production. My fab guy doesn't want to work for less than 10.
I'll take care of this.

Yes please Flo - pics of fuel tank guard. I dare say there will be a few of us Aussies interested in your guards - front and rear.
Cheers, Paul.

It's in bloody French! How about an English page - after all, it is the most commonly spoken language in the world! :D

Put me down as "very interested" for now, and "a certain" if you get a few orders from Australia so we can get the shipping at a good price.
Cheers, Paul.
It should be galvanized steel 4mm.
Stainless steel bolts and nuts as always.
It has to be cheaper than the cost of importing it from the US to Europe. I had a quote of 559 USD from AB for one plus shipping to Europe plus tax duties depending on your country (in my case 10% custom + 19,6% VAT).
I'd like to be able to start at 300 euros plus shipping.

What do you think?

Any idea of how both are mounted to the OEM fuel tank craddle ?

I have a steel 155 litre long range tank so I don't need one of these. Sorry about that.
This picture shows the mounting kit as well.
Looks like extension brackets that are fixed to the cradle studs/ bolts that
the tank guard then fixes to.

Yes, i saw it.

Do you prefer Southdown design ou Safety Device ?
The Southdown design seems superior to me due to the folded edges.
This will give better skid protection.
The downside is though that it can act as a collectertray for debris,
so a drainhole or 2 would be good.
Hi,

Great news, i received 5 of them. One is already flying to Germany with Steering and Axle guards too.

Powdercoated finish metallic grey. The pattern had galvanized mounts and it looks like sh***.

A drain hole.

Let's see :

I'll post photos of the install asap.

Cheers

Florent
