Does your L460 fuel tank door lock?

Nope, hasn't had it in the USA since I think my 2012 L322... I know my S1(on door) and S2 Disco's (locking pin) had it.

On my L405, I even tried looking at the wiring harness diagrams, found the lines, but weirdly, the NAS they completely removed the pigtail so it cannot be retrofitted as plug and play. Unless anyone else knows for sure -- I didn't remove any panels, just used a borescope camera to probe the areas the pigtail would be.

Wish they had it in the US, other luxury brands do. What a silly thing to remove on such an expensive car

My 2019 and 2020 L405 both had a locking fuel door. Definitely not on the 2023, except for the PHEV.
how interesting. my '19 Sport doesn't have it. always loved the locking feature

yeah, didn't think so in the US... unfortunate. wish they did.
I just drove, what I'm told is a 2023.5 L460 P440e hybrid. It came off the transport truck a couple of days ago.
Its fuel door locks & the release button is where we have the trunk open button, under the steering wheel.
Topix confirms that this vehicle shipped with a "Fuel Filler Door Lock" feature.

The electric charger's door doesn't lock.
Correct. In the US, only the hybrid's come with a lock for the fuel filler, and those, only for the fuel filler and not the electric charging door.

They really should lock both doors (or all doors) on all models.

That's a rare one, how was it?

The Range Rover PHEVs (including the L405 too) have an isolation valve on the fuel tank that needs to be opened before refueling so they lock the door on those, requiring interior the button press to unlock.

These are the steps for the L460 but they were similar on the L405:

To enable refuelling, carry out the following:

  1. Switch off the vehicle's ignition and make sure that the transmission is engaged in Park (P).
  2. Press the refueling button located in the lower switch panel at the driver's side of the fascia. The isolation valve on the fuel tank opens to equalize the fuel tank pressure. The fuel filler flap unlocks. The instrument panel displays a message to confirm that the fuel filler flap is unlocking.
  3. The instrument panel displays a message to confirm that the fuel filler flap is unlocked and the vehicle can be refueled. See FUEL FILLER FLAP LOCK.
The isolation valve on the fuel tank remains open for approximately 10 minutes, at which point the valve shuts, preventing further refueling. If further refueling is required, repeat the above process from step 2 to open the isolation valve on the fuel tank.

Don't want to destroy this thread, I'll open a new one with some thoughts, maybe there's going to be a discussion
Hey guys! My dealer just informed me that my L460 AB is built and is currently in a LR holding pen somewhere in France, on schedule for a mid-May final delivery to me.

After reading multiple posts, here and elsewhere, about the non-locking fuel tank door issue on the L460, I called him today to inquire and he tested the feature on a brand-new vehicle he had in the showroom, while I was on the phone with him.

Verdict: the fuel door DOES lock ,albeit not the same way as in the L405, where the fuel door locks or unlocks with the central locking system.

Now, I haven't seen it with my own eyes, but apparently, there's a new button next to the button you can use to open the trunk (at leg level, to the left of the steering wheel) and you need to push it to unlock the fuel door before use.

I don't understand why LR would have different fuel door options in different markets, especially considering the US doesn't ban locking fuel doors. This is just dumb.

Congrats on the incoming! You'll have to confirm when you get it - if a P530 gets the PHEV locking treatment in France.
Will do! My dealer gets the car on May 12th, and I can pick it up on the 19th, but I can come and see it on the 12th, so I'll go, and I'll confirm that this is indeed the case, and I'll take a pic of the button for good measure.

I didn't mention it above, but mine is a P530 - in case it matters.

Are you sure the brand new vehicle in the showroom wasn't a PHEV? That button exists on PHEV vehicles but I just took delivery of my P530 last week and it does not have a separate button.
Only in hybrids not the petrol only models.

No, I'm not, and you're the second person to bring this up, so I'll check with the dealer tomorrow and ask him to inspect the fuel flap on a P530.

Apologies for the possibly erroneous info.

Edit: for what it's worth, I have this item on my build sheet:
053BI Fuel Filler Flap - Central Locking

Okay, so I went to see my car today (won't be able to drive it away until early next week due to a missing JLR document that's required for registration), and I tested the fuel tank door, as promised.

I am pleased to confirm that it DOES indeed lock when the car doors are locked using the keyfob.

As to why French cars get this and not other countries, your guesses are as good as mine and my dealer couldn't explain it either.

FYI, I'm talking about a 2023 P530 AB SWB. No idea if this also applies to other engine options.
