Doing a valve cover gasket repair. Do I need to depressurize the fuel lines on the left hand side of the covers? Or just take them off....trying to limit my fuel spill when I remove them....

Also, is it absolutely needed to use loctite with new gaskets?

re fuel pressure: GEMS or Bosch Motronic?

Don't have to use Loctite ...BUT I used (sparingly) Loctite (518?) the red stuff recently, when I replaced the valve cover gaskets. hope I don't have to remove then again for another 10 years! The block sides are now free of oil for the first time in a long while... I'd recommend the stuff.

On a GEMS engine just depress the schrader valve. you'll only loose a teaspoon or so. You can pull your fuel pump relay to make sure some moron wanting to listen to the radio doesn't make a mess of things... like I did. :?

However, by just undoing the rail mounts you should have enough wiggle room to remove the covers without removing the fuel rail.
