While driving on the interstate lastnight I noticed the car pulling to the left and it was not riding normal. When I stopped to look the front driver side was down, like the airbag was leaking, i tried to raise it back up but it went back down. It doesnt seem to want to stay inflated, could it be something minor? Please let me know if any of you know what this could be or the cause. There were no warning lights on the dash.

Chances are its one of two things...

Either your bag blew, or the line to the bag is ruin. It is common to have the battery leak fluid, directly below it is the air line that feeds the drivers side bag. Acid from the battery can find its way to this line, causing the line to leak... Usually if this is the case there will be some acid burn at the base of the battery, if you see this remove the battery and tray then examine the air line below... If it's damaged cut that section out and splice in a new section of line.

Thanks Brad,

Have any idea how much either will cost to fix if its the case? The side did raise back up but went back down shortly.

When the hose on my leaked it was the same thing, it would go up, but would drop after a few minutes... The dealer charged something like $200 to make the repair, the second time it happened I fixed it myself for something like $50... it's as easy as cutting the damaged hose, and splicing in some new hose, the dealer sold me the hose and hardware. If I were you I would avoid driving it, it's only a matter of time before it goes into hard fault, that being the case you'll be forced to find test book to reset the suspension, otherwise it's a 20 min fix. :thumb:

Download the rave cd as well.

Is this something I should be able to see/tell myself if its the hose? How? If i take it to the dealer, they charge $200 just to tell you whats wrong!

Thanks.

If you raise the truck up to lets say off road height... And you put your ear to the opposite side of the car (battery side) you should hear a hiss... That being the case its the hose. If you hear the air leak hiss from the side that drops itself, then chances are its the strut.

The rave cd is the workshop manual... google green oval and download the new range rover file. :thumb:

I've seen the strut online for as low as $750+ shipping they're sold as left and right, they're not interchangeable. I believe the dealers get something like $1200 for one.

You want the rave cd 2 for l322 :thumb:

Brad,

today I went out and moved the truck, as soon as i started it the front side that was down leveled out. then i drove it up the block and it seemed fine, then the air supsension inactive code flashed up, but the truck has been sitting level now all day, its not uneven anymore, just the code on the dash, coujld the computer be causing this?? also found it strange that the check coolant level light flashed too??

Check the ride hight sensor. This is what was causing my drop front problem. It would hold hight when in normal, but if you parked it in the low, or if the temp dropped below 30 c, it would drop the front. I truly thought it was a bag leaking down,(with a crack in the fold of the air bag) but in the end it was the front right sensor, and believe it or not the left rear.

Yesterday I started it up and the front side that was down raised back up on its own and I left it parked in the garage for the whole day, the side stayed lifted, but I was gettting the message, air susp inactive - well i drove it about 3 miles and by the time i was back home both front sides were dropped down to the tired to the point of rubbing ( i have aftermarket wheels ) why would have both sides dropped if the suspension was inactive? the dealer told me if i ever had problems with the air ride i would have to put back on the stock wheels before they could fix it. is this true? i hope not!

im getting rid of this mobile after i get this fixed. :naughty:

Well I had it towed to the dealer  he called this morning with the news that the front air spring/bag is bad and needs to be replaced, and the pressure sensor is sending a code. He quoted me $1725 for the fix!!!! -- Which i think is outrageous - if i buy the strut online is installation hard? doesnt this sound like a ripoff? :crybaby2: i am so frustrated with this truck im putting it for sale after this gets fixed.

That sounds reasonable from a dealer... The install of a new strut is really easy though, just buy the thing online and do it yourself... the only issue is if you've thrown a hard fault once the repair is made you'll need to send it to the dealer for a flash
