So I thought I was getting somewhere when I got my lemon offer from LRNA. Well like 90% of the time I have spent dealing with the dealers, Reps, Service Dept. they are trying to scr#w me again. I was sent a letter with a "usage fee" of $11,000. My ODO is reading 19,000 and was first in for a problem at 6,500 miles. I was also not reimbursed for my GAP insurance, rental nor my standard insurance. I asked the Lemon Rep where he got his numbers from.........then had to walk him through the Washington State Att. Generals web site to point out these missed facts. The attitude of letting me run up miles and dragging their feet changed quickly to a attitude of "so can you surrender your vehicle tomorrow?" I love that word, surrender...... hell I have been telling LR to take it back for over a half a year? My answer was NO. I do not have a hard number to work with and have a life that takes more than ten hours notice to drive 100 miles to Seattle and drop off my 78,000 dollar paper weight. So I guess this is a heads up to all the other members that may soon go through this............ don't be surprised if your specialist has NO idea what he/she is doing and might want to take more than just your RRS, like a little bit more of your hard earned cash.

This is why I didn't want to go through the hassle of the Lemon Law, although I think here in CA the law may be a bit different, but even so, I'll only have the car for another year and in the meantime, I'll take the **** thing for service each time I hear a noise and report it to LRNA until everyone is sick of me. Hey, it's no sweat for me to take the car in and leave it and drive a LR3 on their dime. And when I turn the thing in at the end of a year, if it's still making noise, it'll be LRNA problem to deal with. Also, I've called twice so far to bring my car in for service for noise, but have yet to hear back from the service manager. I'm going to call LRNA now and let them know what's going on.

I hope things go well for you, otoppero. Good luck!

Sorry to hear about everyone's problems with clunking. My wife's 08 SC is clunking as well but she hasn't noticed. Is it safe to assume that there is no long term fix for this issue? It's not intolerable but pretty annoying for a brand new car.

If there is a fix, it is not available. They (LR) say they can fix it. I believe this is just a ploy to get you past your Lemon Law period. If you have the CLUNK get rid of it now IMO. It wont get better, just worst. They truly do not have a fix, so they can't say that it is safe. Don't let them give that TSB crap or lie to you about the EPQR's that they have sent off. If you like the RRS, there are ones out there that do not have the issue. Just keep trading them in till you get one that does not suffer from this issue. Hope it goes well for you. Cheers Chris.

Supposedly, from what my LR mechanic told me, and from what HSE's owners have told me, the RRS HSE's don't have the clunking suspension. It's only the S/C's, it's the Dynamic Repsonse System, but maybe some of those on this forum who own HSE's can tell you better.

I'm taking my car in Tuesday for service, I have yet to hear from the Service Manager, but I basically told the Service Writer I'm bringing the **** thing in regardless. So, I'll keep you informed.

I think you're right Beachy, all these front end noises seem to be connected to the electronically controlled sway bars of DR (standard on S/C and part of the optional Dynamic Package on HSE, but there are very few HSEs out there fitted that way.)

I believe the thread's name is misleading as well, seeing as the issue is in the rear but you feel it throughout the vehicle. That and you don't drive from the rear seat. I do know that most people that have this problem also had issues with steering racks and Wagner valves both in the front of the vehicle.

My noises are only in the front end. I did have problems with the rear, but that was fixed over a year ago, and I haven't had a problem with it since. All of my complaints are front end issues.

Beachy, did you ever get your work order from two months ago?
NOPE! But the last time I called the dealer, I told them I was bringing my car in and wanted the workorder when I dropped off the car. It only takes a sec to pull it up. I'll wait for it. I'll let you know what it says when I get back from the dealer on Tuesday.

I'm wondering if I should even have them fix (attempt to fix) the front end clunking this time? The steering noise I will have them fix, but the front end isn't as bad as it has been in the past and it's not getting any worse. I don't know if I want them screwing with it. Last time I took it in to have it fixed, the noise was worse, constant. I'm waiting for LR to call me back, yeah, right. I asked them about it, should I even bother becausze if the thing can't be fixed why should they touch it? It'll only add more days on to the lenght of service.

I believe the only reason for bringing the RRS into service is to possibly regain the money spent on your lease.

True. I am so tired of this. The noise isn't that loud, only in steering, but I have LRNA calling my dealer to find out what the hell is going on, why isn't the car fixed and can it be fixed, because if not, to hell with it. I'm done. I'll have the 15,000 mile serive done and a/c noise and that's it. I'll drive the darn thing with the radio up and drive it til the **** thing is so noisey, they'll wonder what to do with it when I turn it in. I'll get my work order tomorrow and will let you know what all is on it.

They will turn around and sell it to someone else. I am positive they will not offer information regarding the vehicles Lemoned past. Just like when I called LR Tacoma, and they stated they had no serious TSB's with the RRS nor any issues with suspension problems. I also learned that they, LRNA, make you sign a gag-order when you "surrender" your vehicle.

That's exactly what I'm afraid of. I don't want someone else to have to deal what I went through, but what can I do? Also, why can't I call and talk to someone who knows whats going on, instead of talking to customer relations who seem to only be there to take your complaints but no nothing about warranties, service or anything else. I just want someone to answer my questions and answer them truthfully. I am reseaching links on the internet as I type. Hopefully I'll come up with something or if any of you have a contact, I'd appreciate it if you could forward that info on to me.

Thanks!

I don't think you will get an answer. I was told just a month before filling my Lemon Law papers that there was no problem and that the noise is a "normal operating aspect of the vehicle". If that was true they would have not accepted my claim for repurchase or replacement let alone spend all that time and money trying to fix it. So I guess my lesson from all that has happened was that they will say all is well until you file.

I know. They told me the same thing when I first brought the car in but the noise got louder and happened more often and they attempted to fix it. Another Service writer tired to tell me a second time that the noise was normal, but both my Service Writer and Service Manager said that what I was experiencing was not normal, there was something wrong with the car and that brings me to where I am at today. Fun.

that and first gen model. The first year cars always have problems. I also found the SC to be way to jerky when driven in the city. Mostly a function of having a forced induction engine in stop and go driving. Add in the harshness of the 20's and the Sports suspension, and I traded mine in on an 08 HSE. Much happier now.
